Water Softeners & Conditioners
Softeners and conditioners are technologies used to reduce the water from being 'hard' or full of scale that collects on surfaces, appliances, and can irritate and dry out human skin and hair. Hard water will have dissolved solids such as calcium and magnesium which can line your pipes overtime and make shiny bathroom fixtures become dull with unsightly deposits.

To soften the water, there are 2 types of technology:

Softeners
Use an ion exchange to remove the hard calcium and magnesium minerals by replacing them with sodium or potassium ions. This is called a 'salt system' which requires the service team to refill your equipment with the softening (potassium chloride) beads. We prefer this one as it's more natural and truly changes the composition of your water into soft water.
Conditioners
Uses a chemical treatment to alter the structure of the calcium and magnesium in the water so that the scale does not stick to surfaces. It does not physically remove the hardness in the water. There are various methods of this technology such as template-assisted crystallization (TAC) that converts minerals into harmless microscopic crystals, carbon based conditioners or electromagnetic systems.
